THE COUNTRY
A fairy tale is what would describe this country best, especially with its well known capital city, Prague. A top destination for tourists to see 9th century structures, gothic and baroque style.
Here you will find the Prague Castle and probably the most photographed site of the country, Charles Bridge.
In addition to all of this, Czech Republic is a budget friendly country compared to its neighbouring countries in Europe making it that much more attractive to visit.
VISA/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Before entering Czech Republic, be sure that your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from the country. You also need to have at least 2 empty pages in your passport. This means no visa stamps or entry stamps.
Most passport holders are able to obtain a 90 day tourist visit at a no cost. There are penalties for overstaying in the country and they may vary. It could be in a form of a fine, a deportation, or a ban.
CURRENCY
The Czech Koruna is the currency in Czech Republic. ATM's are readily available everywhere. Debit and credit cards are also accepted everywhere.
The Koruna's both have notes and coins, get rid of your coins first as much as you can during a transaction to prevent neglecting them or having too much in the end. This is a good way to squeeze out every penny out of your pocket to stretch your budget even further as they do add up in the end.
TRANSPORTATION
Local Buses and Trams - Very common in the city. The cheapest way to get around if you're going from one district to another.
Walking - If you're staying close to the centre, which is most likely going to be the case, you can walk! The main attractions shouldn't be too far from you and should be within walking distance.
Flixbus - A convenient and budget friendly way to get around the country or if you need to get out of the country to see one of its neighbouring countries
THINGS TO DO
Vyšehrad (Prague) - A beautiful castle worth visiting especially if you want to avoid the crowd.
Wenceslas Square (Prague) - A busy area worth taking a stroll.
Seven Foot Sigmund Freud (Prague) - Don't forget to look up when you get here.
Český Krumlov - This is a cute little town in the South Bohemia region. The Vltava River is here along with the massive 13th century castle.
Old Town Square (Prague) - So much happening here! Entertainment, food, drinks, key chains. Whatever you need as a tourist is here.
Astronomical Clock (Prague) - I won't tell you if this is worth seeing or not. Perhaps you can let me know your thoughts on the comments section below once you've seen it.
Charles Bridge (Prague) - Such a majestic bridge, even with so many tourists on it. Take a walk here and take your time. If you want to see the bridge with less people, I woke up super early for the sunrise here and it was so worth it!
Karlovy Vary - A very colourful resort town with numerous thermal springs.
Free Walking Tour - Free walking tours are available to educate you more about the city and the country. You normally meet at the city centre. Depending on which city you're in, look up any Free Walking Tours available in your city and check out the time schedule for the meet. Free Walking Tours are free (obviously! hence, "Free Walking Tour"..) but the people who does them rely on tips. Tips are optional but I highly suggest tipping if the person taking you on the tour is amazing! Smiles and hugs won't put food on their table, just remember that.
Lennon Wall (Prague) - A very photogenic wall to visit swarmed with tourists like myself.
Trdelnik - You need to try these when you're in Czech Republic. A dessert that should be illegal. Take one, or two, or three, or ten.
Petrin (Prague) - You can wander around here.
St. Vitus Cathedral (Prague) - I recommend seeing this beautiful cathedral first thing in the morning before it gets filled with tourists.
Letna Park (Prague) - Another good spot to walk around away from the tourists.
If you want to have a break from your typical destinations, Czech Republic will give you a unique, fairy tale experience that you will remember for a long time. Once you set foot in this country, it will take you back in time, in a good way of course.
If you have any questions or feedback in regards to Czech Republic, I would love to hear from you so please leave your thoughts in the comments section below. Safe travels everyone!
